The pre-kindergarten graduation ceremony marks a child's entry into kindergarten class. While in kindergarten, the students will be instructed, tested and graded on different subjects to prepare them for first grade. You should choose ideas for a pre-kindergarten graduation ceremony that involves the students and recognizes the event as something special. Make the graduation ceremony similar to the ones for bigger students, so the pre-kindergartens will have a sense of accomplishment.
Class Song and Dance
Have the class perform a song and dance routine at the beginning or ending of the graduation ceremony. The performance should include every student in the class. It can also include a solo act, if one student excels better at singing and dancing. Pick a song and routine that will be easy for pre-kindergarten students to learn. You can take popular songs and change the lyrics, so the students can easily learn them. However, to ensure that the students don't forgot the song and dance routine, have an adult perform out in front of them during the ceremony.
Since it's their graduation ceremony, get the pre-kindergartens involved by having them give short speeches. Each student can recite a speech that's no more than 10 seconds long on a topic that has been agreed upon, such as "What I've learned in pre-kindergarten," "What was the best thing about being in pre-kindergarten" and "What do I want to be when I grow up." Students will write down their speeches on a sheet of paper and read it during the graduation ceremony. If the students become shy, then a schoolteacher or parent can read their speeches for them.
Every student can have an opportunity to walk up and be handed their pre-kindergarten diploma. A schoolteacher or school administrator can make the diplomas on a computer, print them out and fill them out with each child's name on it. A schoolteacher or administrators should also sign and date the pre-kindergarten diplomas. Pre-kindergarten diplomas that come complete with display folders and frames can also be ordered from graduation supply companies.
Cap and Gown Pictures
A graduation ceremony will seem incomplete if the students did not wear graduation caps and gowns. So, a graduation ceremony for pre-kindergartens shouldn't be an exception. You can have the students wear caps and gowns in the school colors, or order white ones. Students can decorate the white caps and gowns with their favorite designs and colors. Arrange for a photographer to take the students' pictures in their caps and gowns before or after the ceremony starts. The students can take pictures alone or with the parents and other family members.
