The Mustang MTL 320 skid-steer loader is a piece of small construction equipment that can be controlled by a single operator. Just as copy machines are commonly called "Xerox" machines, skid-steer loaders are often called "Bobcat" loaders. However, Bobcat is actually only one of many manufacturers of skid-steer loaders. The Mustang 320's features include a "multi-tach" attachment mounting system and a two-speed drive mechanism.

Engine

The Mustang MTL320 skid-steer track loader has a turbo-charged Yanmar diesel engine, with four cylinders and a total displacement of 3.3 liters. The engine puts out 83 horsepower at 2,500 rpm, and has a maximum torque of 219 ft-lb at 1,800 rpm. The fuel tank holds 23.8 gallons of diesel fuel.

Tracks

Instead of using wheels like many skid-steer loaders, the Mustang 320 uses tracks to help it navigate over rough or muddy terrain that could give wheeled-loaders trouble. The 18-inch wide tracks are driven by four steel rollers on each side, and have a contact length on the ground of 59 inches. In low gear the loader can go from 0 to 4.7 mph, and in high gear it can travel from 0 to 7.2 mph.

Bucket and Performance

The maximum tipping load of the Mustang 320 is 5,952 lb. The bucket is rated to operate up to 2,976 lb, half the tipping load. With a counterweight, the operating capacity goes up to 3,486 lb. The breakout force of the bucket, or the maximum weight that the bucket can lift, is 7,401 lb. The breakout force of the lift arm is 7,425 lb. The bucket uses a universal quick-attach mount, and has a maximum heaped capacity of 17 cubic feet.

Dimensions

The Mustang 320 has an approximate operating weight of 9,700 lb. It's about 9 feet 9 inches long without the bucket, and 12 feet 3 inches long including the bucket. With the bucket, the loader is about 6 feet 2 inches wide. The maximum lift height is 12 feet 4 inches measured to the pin of the bucket, the dump height is about 8 feet, and the dump angle is 38.5 degrees. At ground level, the bucket has a rollback angle of 31 degrees.
