Smart phones have come to represent the epitome of technological progress by giving people access to information even while on the go. Application development for smart phones has rapidly grown to a multimillion dollar industry in the past few years. Almost every company that churns out software applications for personal computers makes it a point to release a smart phone compliant version as well. The application tools developed serve a plethora of purposes including entertainment, paying utility bills and finding specific information.

      • The Google App Inventor serves as a platform in developing other applications for the smartphone. Using this tool, it is now possible for users to create their own software for Android smartphones. While most of the customized software developed may not be made available to the masses, people can create niche software tools that they can share with their circle of friends and acquaintances. The Google App Inventor is a web-based tool.
