Volunteer Banquet Ideas
Volunteers are the backbone of most charitable organizations. Whether the volunteers are serving a group, a school or an institution, recognition of their hours of unpaid work is only fitting. Many groups hold annual volunteer banquets to recognize volunteers, and adding a meaningful touch to the banquet theme makes the evening special for those who have given their time and talents.

Points of Light Recognition
-
President George H.W. Bush's 1989 inaugural speech recognized volunteers as a "thousand points of light." Honor your volunteers with a light-themed banquet. Decorate the hall with sparkling holiday lights and give each volunteer a candle or candlestick as a gift. Nominate one or more of your outstanding volunteers for the Points of Light Institute's Daily Point of Light Award and celebrate the points of light that keep your organization going.
Angels Among Us
-
For many organizations, volunteers are the angels that keep everything running. Fete your group's angels with an angel themed banquet. Use harps, clouds and other heavenly decorations and give out halos and wings to your top volunteers.

Keys To Success
-
If volunteers are key to your organization's work, choose a key theme to honor their dedication and work. Use vases filled with old skeleton keys for centerpieces and keyhole decorations. Reward those who "unlocked" the most hours of volunteer work with an engraved sterling silver key chain or key-shaped pendant.
Cheers to You
-
Celebrate your volunteers with a spirited awards banquet. Use pom poms, footballs and other team spirit decorations on the tables. Have the host or emcee dress in a cheerleading costume. Create humorous awards based on high school class awards: "Class Clown" for the volunteer who kept everyone laughing, "Most Likely to Succeed" for the volunteer who went above and beyond and, for a school volunteer banquet, "Teacher's Pet" for the volunteer who helped the faculty out the most. Give pencils or other school supplies as party favors.
