Case 1070 Tractor Specifications

J.I. Case’s 1070 is a two-wheel drive agricultural tractor. This particular model of tractor was manufactured between 1970-1978 in Racine, Wisconsin. During the years of production, 7,561 Case 1070 tractors were manufactured. During the final year of production, the 1978 Case 1070 agricultural tractor was available for $22,600. This model is an upgrade from the Case 970 model tractor. The next model produced by Case after the 1070 was the Case 2090 agricultural tractor.

Engine Specifications

Many tractors feature engines that are made by a different company; however, the Case 1070 agricultural tractor was fitted with an internal combustion engine actually manufactured by Case. This engine is a six-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with a natural aspiration. The engine runs on diesel fuel. Bore and stroke on this particular tractor engine is 4.375 by 5.0 inches. Piston displacement offered by this engine is 451 cubic-inches. The Case 1070 engine has a 16.5:1 compression ratio.

Transmission

Case 1070 tractors were fitted with two different transmission systems. One of the transmission systems features an unsynchronized transmission that offers eight forward gears and two reverse gears. The other transmission system features a partial powershift transmission that offers twelve forward gears and four reverse gears.

Output

On two different tests, the eight-speed Case 1070 tractor produced 100.73 and 107.36-horsepower outputs. The tested tractors burned fuel at a rate of 6.5 gallons per hour and 7.1 gallons per hour. In terms of draw bar during testing, the eight-speed tractors offered 84.53 and 90.77-horsepower. The twelve-speed tractors tested at 100.21 and 108.1-horsepower. These tractors burned fuel at a rate of 6.4 and 7.2 gallons per hour. They offered a 82.12 and 90.99-horsepower draw bar.

Tires, Brakes & Fuel

The Case 1070 tractor was fitted with 10 x 16-inch front agricultural tires and 18.4 x 34-inch rear agricultural tires. The operating weight offered by this model of tractor is 10,310 pounds. This tractor employs differential hydraulic dry disc brakes. The fuel tank designed for the Case 1070 can hold a total of 50 gallons worth of diesel fuel. The hydraulic system can pump hydraulic fluids throughout the system at a rate of 16 gallons per minute.
