2006 Silverado Z71 Specs

by Matthew Suedkamp

The 2006 Chevrolet Silverado Z-71 is one of the highest selling automobiles in the Unites States. The truck can be had in many different trim levels, with a large selection of powertrains, cab configurations, and load capacities. The Z-71 models are those that include the "off-road" package.

Powertrains

The 2006 Chevrolet Silverado gave buyers many choices when selecting a truck. The half-ton 1500 series trucks came standard with a 4.8-liter V-8, with an optional 5.3-liter V-8. The heavy-duty 2500 3/4-ton and 3500 one-ton trucks came standard with a gas 6.0-liter V-8, and had an optional 8.0-liter gas V-8 or 6.6-liter turbodiesel V-8. All Silverados came equipped with automatic transmissions.

Cab Configurations

All three models, the 1500, 2500, and 3500, gave buyers many options when selecting a cab configuration. The standard truck came with a single cab, that had seating for two. Available were extended cabs, and crew cabs with four doors. The extended cabs came equipped with bucket seats for the driver and front passenger, and a small bench seat for the rear passengers. The four-door crew cab trucks had larger bench seats for rear passengers, with full doors for ingress and egress. All trucks came with cloth interiors standard, with optional leather seating surfaces.

Z-71 Off Road Package

The Z-71 off-road package consists of heavy-duty components added to four-wheel drive models for enhanced off-road capability. These trucks came with a limited slip rear differential, that had numerically higher gear ratios. They were equipped with larger off-road tires, and heavy-duty off-road shock absorbers. The suspensions on these trucks were also lifted higher than standard four-wheel drive Silverados.
