Ford 8N Tractor Specifications

The Ford Motor Company has been in business for over a century. Over the decades, Ford has manufactured extensive lines of construction and agricultural equipment. The Ford 8N is a specific model of agricultural tractor that was manufactured by Ford. This particular two-wheel drive model of agricultural tractor saw Ford assembly lines between 1947 and 1952. Before this model was discontinued, 1952 Ford 8N tractors were sold for $1,404. Over half a million of these tractors were assembled in Highland Park, Michigan facilities.

  1. Engine Specifications

    • Consumers have access to Ford, model 8N tractors that have been fitted with one of two possible engines. Ford manufactured both of the engines used in their 8N tractors. Both engines feature a 3.18 x 3.75-inch bore and stroke. Piston displacement offered by these engines is 119.7 cubic inches. Both engines are liquid cooled, feature four cylinders and a natural aspiration. Perhaps the only differences between the two engines are that they use different types of fuels and offer different compression ratios. One engine is gas powered and offers a 6:1 compression ratio while the other uses distillate fuel and offers a 4.75:1 compression ratio.

    Weights and Dimensions

    • Ford's 8N agricultural tractor has a 2,410-lb. shipping weight. This tractor provides a 2,717-lb. operating weight. Between its longest points, the tractor measures 115 inches long. The Ford 8N tractor was designed to a width of 64.75 inches and a height of 70 inches. The wheelbase offered by this model of Ford tractor is 70 inches and ground clearance is 13 inches. These tractors were designed to employ 4-19 front agricultural tires and 10-28 rear agricultural tires.

    Other Specifications

    • The Ford 8N is available featuring one of two different transmission systems. The first transmission offers four forward gears and one reverse gear. To switch gears on this transmission, the tractor must be completely stopped. Other 8N models were fitted with a transmission that offers 12 forward gears and three reverse gears. The hydraulic system in the Ford 8N tractor can accommodate 5 gallons of hydraulic fluid and has the capacity to pump the fluid at a rate of 2.85 gallons per minute. This hydraulic system offers 1,700 pounds per square inch of pressure. The fuel tank on this tractor can hold a maximum 10 gallons of fluid. The tractor employs manual drum brakes and one 6-volt battery.
