The Brunswick Corporation produces MerCruiser brand propeller engines and boats, in addition to related services for commercial and government marine applications. The company has become a leader in the marine, fitness and recreation industries, and today is actively involved in natural conservation initiatives. Brunswick also participates in boat racing, fishing and other water sport activities.

Capacity

The MerCruiser 165 is a 3.7-liter, 165-horsepower engine. It has six cylinders and an average psi of 150. The gear ratio is 1.7:1. Minimum rpm at wide open throttle (WOT) is 4,000. Maximum WOT is 4,600. The spline count is 15.

Pushrods

In an internal-combustion engine the pushrod is moved by a cam to operate the valves. The overall length of the pushrods is 8.647 inches. The tubing size is 5/16 inch by .06 inch. The ball ends are 5/16 inch.

Fuel Pump

The fuel pump commonly used for the MerCruiser HP 165 engine is known as a Carter pump, which is an older design. The fuel filter sits on the top of the pump. The fuel pump weighs 3 lbs.
