Temporary Grass Mats
-
Grass mats are designed for temporary use, mostly for parties and special events. They are flame retardant and waterproof and can withstand moderate use. While some are very flexible and foldable, others come in squares that have rigid rubber backing that interlock using a dovetail design.
Indoor/Outdoor Rugs

These rugs normally create the illusion of grass outdoors or in recreation rooms. They are made of polypropylene olefin fiber and are resistant to fading from sun exposure. Uses for this type of rug range from pool decks, docks and screened-in patios that are exposed to the elements. You can purchase this type of rug with unfinished edges and install it yourself, or you can purchase one for use as an area rug with finished edges.
Some manufacturers make specialized outdoor grass specifically for use in regions that have limited rainfall. Southwestern Greens has synthetic grasses in six designs and colors: Zoysia, Centipede, Bermuda, Rye, Rescue and Bluegrass. These synthetic lawn grasses are designed to mimic the actual grass types they are named for. The turfs also allow for drainage into the ground below, making them pet-friendly options.

Modern Rugs offers a realistic green shag rug, called Glamour Grass, that is a mixture of polyester and viscose, a material used to create rayon. The edges of the area rug have brown yarns interwoven with multicolored green to create a more realistic look. CB2's Par shag rug is comprised of 100 percent polyester pile and has a realistic grass look.
