Fall Apple Crunch
-
Peel six apples and thinly slice them. Have your child arrange the apples in the bottom of a greased baking dish. In a gallon-size plastic zipper bag, add 1 1/2 cups of oats, 3/4 cup of raw sugar, 1/4 cup of whole wheat flower, 1/4 tsp of cinnamon and nutmeg and a pinch of salt. Cut one stick of butter into small pieces and add to the bag. Seal the bag and allow your child to knead the bag to mix all the ingredients. It should resemble crumbs when it's ready. Sprinkle it on top of the apples and back in an oven set at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 40-45 minutes. This recipe fits an eight- or nine-inch dish and yields six small servings. Use a 9x13 pan if you plan on doubling it.
Top if off with ice cream or whipped cream for a real treat.
Personal Pizzas
-
This recipe makes two or three small personal pizzas with one box of pizza dough mix. Mix the pizza dough by following the directions on the back of the pizza dough box. The dough is found in the pizza or baking section of your grocery store. Once the dough is mixed, allow your child to knead it in the bowl for 5-10 minutes. Divide the dough into two or three balls and spread them with your hands to 1/4 inch thick on a greased cookie sheet. Spray your hands with cooking spray to avoid the dough sticking. Set out toppings with spoons for serving and let your child design their very own pizza. Kid friendly toppings include pizza sauce, cooked meat, shredded cheese, black olives, mushrooms, chopped brocolli and even shredded carrots. Bake in an oven set at 375 degree Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes. Cool for five minutes before cutting and serving.

Allow your child to make their own taco by filling their taco shells with their favorite ingredients. Serve the tacos with refried beans and rice.
