The Best Places to Find a Husband
In February 2010, The Daily Beast reported Long Beach, California, as the best place to find a mate. Three other southern California cities made the publication's list of top ten cities for finding love. Rating was based on various factors, including percentage of single residents, bars and restaurants per capita, number of married and divorced couples, and emotional health. Even if you don't live in one of The Daily Beast's top ten cities, you can still improve your chances of finding a husband by looking in the right places.

Interest-Based Clubs
-
Think about what you enjoy doing. If you like to play a sport, join an adult-oriented city league volleyball or softball team. If you like dancing, look for a singles-oriented ballroom dance studio and join a class. Cities are filled with running, hiking, biking, bird-watching and other interest-oriented clubs. Visiting one of these clubs in which you have an interest will provide opportunities for you to meet other individuals with whom you have something in common, in a relaxed atmosphere. When you feel relaxed and comfortable, you are more likely to have meaningful conversations that may lead to a romantic and ultimately long-term relationship.
Religious Organizations
-
People can share strong connections over spirituality. If you are religious, finding someone who shares your beliefs will provide a good start towards a potentially lifelong relationship. Look for opportunities to interact with other singles at your church, such as an outreach event or volunteer activity. If your church does not have a singles group, look for other churches in your area that do. Begin by searching within your denomination and then expand your search to include church-sponsored charity events in your city. If you are not religious but are passionate about a particular cause -- such as fighting homelessness or building pet shelters -- get involved with organizations in your city that support the causes you care about. Volunteer to serve on a board or to help out at events. You may meet someone else who shares your passion and is also looking for a life partner.

Dating Services
-
You may also consider a dating service. Dating services aim to help people who are interested in long-term relationships connect with each other. Some online dating services utilize detailed personality exams and interests to pair you with someone with whom you are likely to be compatible. Theoretically, this approach sets you up for success in finding a lifelong mate. Another option in some cities is a lunch-only dating service, which pair participants with similar interests and commitment-level orientations for relaxed meetings over lunch. Explore what your community has to offer in terms of dating services and give it a chance, as it just may be what works for you.
Bars and Nightclubs
-
Bars and nightclubs are a great place to meet other singles. However, they can be a hard place to find lasting love if you go into them with an undiscerning attitude. Recognize that many individuals at bars and nightclubs may be looking to meet people for casual encounters. Take a friend with you and go to bars and nightclubs that reflect your interests. If you like jazz or blues music, frequent restaurants or bars that host live jazz and blues acts. If you love to dance, look for nightclubs hosting salsa nights, or other types of music you enjoy. Consider quieter, more upscale bars that are conducive towards striking up, and maintaining, conversations. These efforts will place you in an environment where you are more likely to meet someone who shares your interests, which is the foundation for a lasting relationship.
