The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, is Louisiana’s monthly benefits program for low-income residents. SNAP recipients receive an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card to receive state funds, and the amount of aid is determined by earned income, residence and citizenship, Social Security status and ability to work. According to Louisiana’s Department of Children & Family Services, some restaurants are authorized to accept SNAP from homeless, elderly or disabled persons.

In addition to pizzas, Papa Murphy’s offers salads, desserts and a number of appetizers and beverages. As of November 2010, Papa Muprhy’s accepts EBT payments at nearly all of its locations across the country, including the Gonzales, La., location.

Cracker Barrel

Part old country store, part restaurant, the Cracker Barrel location in West Monroe, La., is a participant in the SNAP program. The restaurant specializes in made-from-scratch country fare and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition to food, Cracker Barrel also operates a retail location at each restaurant, selling old-fashioned games, candies and other food items.
