Mazda B2500 Specs

Mazda produced the B2500 pickup for model years 1998 to 2001. What set the B2500 apart from all the other B-series Mazda pickups produced during the B-series model run -- from 1972 to 2009, when the B-series was discontinued -- was its engine. The B2500 was available in SX and SE trim. The B2500 was essentially a Ford Ranger in Mazda badges.
Engine and Transmission
The SX and SE shared the same 2.5-liter, inline-four-cylinder engine. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder generated 119 horsepower. Both B2500 variants came with either a five-speed manual transmission with overdrive or a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive.
Suspension and Brakes
Both B2500 models had a double wishbone front suspension with anti-roll bar and gas-pressurized shocks; the B2500's rear suspension was made of leaf springs and gas-pressurized shocks. The B2500 has vented disc brakes in front and drum brakes in the rear.
Safety, Exterior and Options
Mazda’s B2500s came with driver and passenger side air bags and rear-wheel anti-lock. The B2500 featured front and rear mud flaps, a rear step bumper and dual manual exterior mirrors. The SE offered options not available with the SX, including chrome bumpers and a sliding rear windshield.
