A number of different things can be done to preserve a property.

After a property has been foreclosed on or someone is interested in selling it, certain things need to be done to it to bring it back to the best possible condition,so that the seller can get the most money for it. Property preservation companies use a number of different tools to do this, and property owners can do this themselves, to save the money of hiring an outside company.

    1. Getting Rid of Debris, Keeping Personal Property

      • When a property is being preserved and restored to its best possible appearance, it must be examined from every possible angle. This means that many things which are on the property which aren't really necessary should be gotten rid of. This includes natural debris, like brush and felled trees, which should be removed with a crew and a truck and taken to a landfill or a large composting area. It also includes structures which can't be salvaged, like a dilapidated fence line or an old shed which has collapsed on itself. Unless there is true historical significance, these should be demolished and rebuilt or just cleared from the property. Tools for doing this will include trash bins and dumpsters, trucks to haul everything away and things like hammers, rubber gloves and chainsaws to effectively take everything apart.

      Cleaning Supplies

      • Once the debris from the property has been removed, the structure on the property and the outdoor landscaping will have to be cleaned as well as possible. These tools will include brushes, towels, mops and high quality cleaning products to remove grime that may have built up over decades or even centuries from inside a piece of property. Outside the structure on the property, tools like leaf blowers, rakes, bags of soil and even landscaping materials may be needed to return the exterior of the home to its former glory. Paint scrapers, paint rollers, tarps and paintbrushes will be needed to repaint the exterior of the structure on the property.

Office Supplies, Business Cards and Basic Tools

      • Regardless of what the property is being preserved for, from selling it to a new buyer or just for historical purposes, a number of office supplies, business cards and simple maintenance tools will be needed to operate within the preserved property. A desk, copy machine, computer and variety of forms may be needed if someone is showing or booking public events on the property, all situated in one small office. Maintenance tools like hammers, drills, screwdrivers and spare light bulbs will be needed to make minor fixes and repairs around the inside of the structure on the property. Yard and landscaping tools will need to be available for someone, or a crew, to come out to the property and keep it looking well groomed.
