Things to Do for a Two Year Old's Birthday

Save

Now that your child is turning 2, it's time to organize a party for family and friends to celebrate with him. Choose a theme that your child will enjoy, after all it's his party. If you are not sure what type of theme to choose, look at the toys he plays with the most. This will give you some help in choosing that theme to delight your child.

Inflatable Bounce Play Areas

  • There are a variety of names for inflatable bounce play areas, such as bounce zones or inflatable play zones. These are small play areas that feature inflatable bounce toys for children to play in. Some are filled with plastic balls. Some have a short basketball net for kids to shoot basketballs in. There are also small inflatable slides and obstacle courses. They are good for 2-year-olds as the inflatable play areas are soft so they won't get hurt when they fall down.

Petting Zoo

  • Take the children to a petting zoo in your area. The children can take turns petting the small animals. A petting zoo typically has small animals, which will be less intimidating than larger animals at a standard zoo. The children can purchase seeds from the vending machines at the petting zoo to feed the animals.

Dora and Diego Party

  • Invite your guests to come to the party dressed up as their favorite characters from the cartoons featuring Dora and Diego. Not only are there the main characters, but there other options such as Boots the monkey and Benny the bull. Children will enjoy seeing their friends dressed up as some of their favorite characters. Serve cookies in the shape of Diego and Dora and have a cake themed after the cartoon show.

Cookout

  • Instead of spending money to rent a party facility, have a cookout at your home. Your food costs are what you actually pay for the food, instead of the inflated costs at a party location. The children can run around and play outside. Have a few balls such as beach balls and other toys for the children to play with. They can play pin the tail on the donkey and try to pop a balloon by sitting on it. A small pinata filled with candy can be fun, but the adults might need to break it for the kids.
