The Lenovo G430 is a laptop PC available in four models--20003, 20008, 4152 and 4153. Released in 2008, the G430 has an Energy Star-compliant designation, a measure to protect the environment through energy efficiency. Known as a budget laptop for the masses, the G430 is bundled with many hardware and software features, including face-recognition software, one-button recovery system, Bluetooth wireless capability, integrated Dolby Home Theater system, built-in webcam and integrated touchpad.
Dimensions and Weight
The Lenovo 3000 G430 is 334 mm wide, 238.5 mm deep, 30 to 36 mm tall and weighs 2.4 kg.
Processor and Memory
The G430 is powered by the Intel Pentium Dual Core processor with a clock speed of 2 GHz and a 1 MB cache memory. It comes with a 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM memory running at 800 MHz and upgradeable to 4 GB in 2 DIMM slots.
Hard Drive, Optical Drive and Display
The G430 is equipped with a generous 250 GB Serial ATA hard drive with a rotating speed of 5,400 rpm. It has a Super Multi optical drive accepting Double-Layer recordable DVDs for 8.5 GB of storage. Boasting a 14.1-inch WXGA display, the G430 is powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 MHD video card supporting a 1,280-by-800 screen resolution.
External Devices and Built-in Devices
The G430 comes with a 4-in-1 media card reader that accepts a SD card, a multi-media card, a Memory Stick and a Memory Stick Pro card. It has support for three USB ports on the sides. It also comes with a PCI Express card slot that accepts PC card devices. There is a VGA port on its side to enable you to connect to an external VGA monitor and a HDMI port to connect to a DVI monitor. A headphone jack on the front is available to connect to an external headphone, speaker and audio devices. A microphone jack sits next to the headphone jack to allow you to connect to an external microphone.
The G430's internal devices include a built-in webcam with integrated microphone to support online conferencing and social networking. To provide a rich home theater experience, the G430 is equipped with two stereo speakers with sub woofers.
The G430 provides three ways to be connected to the Internet: wired Ethernet, wireless LAN supporting 802.11 b/g protocol and a 56 KB/s V.92 modem. The LAN port allows you connectivity to a high-speed DSL/cable modem and LAN via its standard RJ-45 connector. It has a built-in isotropic antenna system to support wireless communication. Telephone dial-up access to the Internet is available via a standard RJ-11 connector on the modem port.
Operating System and Bundled Software
The G430 is powered by Microsoft Windows Vista Home. Veriface, a registered trademark of Lenovo, is a face-recognition software in lieu of passwords that adds a more sophisticated level of security to the G430. The Shuttle Center, G430's audio and video entertainment platform, is an alternative to Microsoft Windows Media center. Power2Go, a popular optical media burning software, lets you transfer your favorite media onto DVDs on the G430.
