Interview Questions for a Construction Project Manager


A project manager in the construction industry has an important job, involving a number of crucial functions. He is responsible for ensuring that the project is completed on time and within budget, as well as for overseeing the health and safety of all site staff. Previous Experience

  • Within the construction industry, it is important that projects are completed on time and on budget --- any delays could be costly. Ask the candidate how he goes about allocating resources and planning the project to make sure that things are on track. Always ask for examples to back up any claims, so you can verify what the applicant is saying.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • A common interview question is to ask the applicant what he considers to be his strengths and weaknesses, and the steps he takes to limit his weaknesses. Ask the candidate what strengths he brings to the position, and how it will benefit your company. Ask about the steps the applicant is taking to overcome any weaknesses that he has. An open and honest answer will demonstrate that the candidate has integrity.
