1985 GMC Sierra Specs

by RhiannaJ

General Motor Company produced the first Sierra in 1975 as a full-size pick-up truck for the Chevrolet C/K trim. The name Sierra differentiated the various trims in this line, such as the Sierra Classic and Sierra Grand. The letter K denoted the model which had four-wheel drive, and the letter C the rear-wheel drive models. The year 1985 brought the adjustment of the exterior designs, and the launch of a new engine technology which was an improvement over that of previous models.

Engine Specs

The 1985 GMC Sierra had an engine which was the most powerful standard engine ever in the company's base pick-up trucks. It had a longitudinal 4.3 liters Vortec V-6 engine, based on the 5.7-liter V-8 small block engine. This engine had a power rating of 195hp at 4,600 rpm and a maximum torque of 260 foot-pounds at 2800 rpm. The bore has a diameter measuring four inches and the length of the stroke is 3.5 inches with a compression ratio of 9:2-to-1. The fuel system in this engine was a sequential fuel injection system. The Sierra was available in both four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive. There were also models from 1985 which have 6.2-liter V-8 engines. There were two overhead valves for each of the six cylinders, giving the Sierra a total of 12 valves.

Production

Production of these vehicles halted in 1999 but revived in 2003. This truck was popular among farmers and construction workers because of its hauling and towing capabilities.

Features

The 1985 model had a revised grill design which had a thicker horizontal divider. It had chromed rear and front bumpers with a special chassis, which came with full camper towing equipment. The Sierra also came with electronic cruise control, power door locks and power windows which had tinted glass as an option.
