Denim Jean Styles
Jeans were invented in Genoa, Italy, and developed in America in 1873 by Levi Strauss. Originally Levi's were made in only three sizes, and the wearer of the jean would jump into a body of water to shrink them to their perfect fit. With so many styles of jeans to choose from today the hassle of jumping into the nearest horse trough for your perfect fit jean can be crossed off your to do list.

Straight Jean
-
Just as the name states, these jeans are the same width at the thigh, knee and leg opening for a straight fit all the way down, and the leg opening is approximately 14 inches on most styles. Made popular by teenagers and women of the 1940s and 50s in protest of conformity, these jeans were originally worn with a high cuff at the bottom. Paired with long shirts and a pair of heels this style looks great on pear- and apple-shaped women. Men can pair these jeans with a wide leather belt and classic white tennis shoe for an all around look.
Skinny Jean
-
Skinny style jeans are the latest fashion rage. With a snug fit through seat, thigh and leg, the skinny jean tapers to a narrow leg opening that is approximately 12 inches and less. Tuck these jeans into high boots for a modern look or stack them up above your favorite heels for a more classic look. Either way this jean is great for any season and is designed for even plus-size women. For men, the European trend is to pair these jeans with a skinny belt and canvas style white shoes or a pointed leather boot.

Boyfriend Jean
-
The boyfriend jean is a great relaxed look for anyone looking for comfort. Introduced by designer Calvin Klein, the looser fit from the leg down opens to a full, wide leg approximately 20 inches or above and looks great rolled up over tennis shoes. This style is intended for all body types. Pair this style with a belt and your favorite T-shirt, for a put together casual look.
Brazilian Jean
-
Made with a bit more spandex and designed to hug your curves these jeans are designed with special hidden panels in the fabric that flatten your tummy. Special stitching and the wash of the denim features subtle fading that visually enhances and creates the appearance of a supple, round, perfect bottom.
Boot-cut Jeans
-
With a natural-looking fade down the thigh these jeans are a style for both men and women in which the back hem skims the floor and the front hem lay over your shoe. Boot-cut jeans taper at the knee and then loosen at the ankle for women. Men's boot-cut are a bit baggier all the way down and have a slight flare at the bottom. They look like they were made for boots, and they'll also look good with all of the other shoes you own.
