Appropriate Gifts for a Client With a New Baby

Save

When one of your clients has a baby, you want to give her something that is special but is not too familiar or too expensive. Choose a gift that is at a comfortable price range for you and something that shows you are being genuine, not trying to gain any points with the client. Depending on the business you are in, you may know a lot of about your client's personal life in which case you can give her a more personal gift.

Gift Basket

  • Give your client a gift basket. Decide on a theme for the gift basket, like things for the baby or things for the mom. For example, but together a baby bath basket. Include powder, lotion and baby body wash. Get cute washcloths, and put them in there as well. Include a towel that has a hood on the top of it. This is easy to put together and requires one trip to the store.

Slippers

  • Baby slippers come in all shapes, colors and designs. They are a cute, inexpensive gift that your client will love. For example, if you run a car service business, give the client little slippers that look like cars. Or if you are a dog walker, give your client little doggy slippers. Babies can't walk, so these are purely for looks and to keep the baby's feet warm.

Books

  • Give you client books for the baby. Look for books that have different textures in them, like fuzzy or rough. Many books incorporate these into the story. Get books that are easy for the baby to hold and play with. He will not understand these until he gets older, so the story content is not as important as the feel and look of the book.

Baby Book

  • Give your client a baby book so that she can track all of her baby's firsts. You can include a disposable camera with this gift. While many people have cameras, it is not certain your client does. This ensures that she doesn't miss any moments, and she can begin filling the book up immediately.

Toys

  • Give the client toys for the baby. Toys come in all sizes, shapes, colors and prices, so find one that you are comfortable getting. Stuffed animals are safe toys with no small parts. They are also very appropriate for a client because it is a simple but thoughtful gift. You can also give the client things like teething rings and educational toys. Do not give the baby anything noisy because the parent might not appreciate this.
