Fortune Telling Halloween Party Game Ideas
No Halloween party worthy of the name is complete without the gypsy fortune teller - and if you, or someone you know, is good with crystal balls, tarot cards or palm readings, by all means set up a booth and have a go. If not, you can still have fun reading the future with some entertaining games requiring absolutely no precognitive skills. Does this Spark an idea?

Yes/No Fortunes
-
World English offers a cute fortune-telling tool that provides answers to simple yes-or-no questions. Since you probably don't want your guests gathered around a computer to play fortune-telling games, do the same game, only using paper. Just write down answer phrases like, "yes," "no," "probably," "it isn't clear and "absolutely." Fold each slip of paper in half, and put them all in a large bowl. Guests take turns asking yes or no questions, then pulling the "answer" from the bowl. The question and answer combinations can often be hilarious.
Apple Fortunes
-
Apples, probably the most abundant fall fruit, come into play for many divination rituals - usually involving romantic relationships. The seemingly childish game of bobbing for apples actually started as a way for young people to discover the name of their future spouses, according to Halloween Howl. Have unmarried guests bob for apples as usual, but then hand out paring knives, and instruct them to skin the whole apple in one peel. Guests toss the peel over the left shoulder, then decipher the twisted peel to see which letter of the alphabet it forms. That will be the initial of their future spouse's name.

Finding Fortune
-
Another fun fortune-telling activity suggested by Halloween Howl is a game of hide-and-seek involving some small but significant items. On small message tags, write good fortunes such as, "You're in Luck! This coin promises wealth to the finder." Tape the tags to items such as rings and coins, and hide them around the room or rooms where the party will take place. Guests are not told the items are lost, but if they find an item with a tag, it will offer them a hopeful, good luck fortune. Once one item is recovered, everyone will want to look for their own bit of fortune.
Ouija Fortunes
-
The classic Ouija (pronounced Wee-ja), or talking board game, usually known in this country from the Parker Brothers version produced from the mid-1960s, has been loved - and sometimes feared - in several incarnations since the 1800s. This is a great ice-breaking party game that will have everyone looking for "scientific explanations" while it raises the hairs on the back of many necks. There are digital versions online, but for real fun and eerie fortunes, go out and get the board and planchette version. Then stand back, and prepare for some spine-tingling fun.
