1990 Chevy 5.7 Specifications

Developed and engineered by General Motors, the 5.7-liter engine has been utilized in various GMC and Chevrolet models. Of the 1990 line of Chevy vehicles, only the G30 Van, Suburban and Corvette were outfitted with 5.7-liter engines. Engine specifications vary across the three models.

G30

The G30 van was built with two 5.7-liter engine options. One delivered 190 horsepower at 4,000 rotations per minute (rpm) and torque of 300 foot-pounds at 2,400 rpm, bore of 4 inches, stroke of 3.48 inches and an 8.6:1 compression ratio. The second option had the same specifications for displacement, bore and stroke, but was capable of 290 foot-pounds of torque at 2,400 rpm and 195 horsepower at 4,000 rpm. It had a 9.3:1 compression ratio.

Suburban

Two versions of the 5.7-liter engine were available in 1990 model Suburbans. The first had bore of 4 inches, stroke of 3.48 inches and an 8.6:1 compression ratio, and was capable of 190 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and 300 foot-pounds of torque at 2,400 rpm. The other 5.7-liter engine shared the displacement, bore and stroke measures, but achieved a 9.3:1 compression ratio and delivered 210 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and 300 foot-pounds of torque at 2,800 rpm.

Corvette

A single 5.7-liter engine option was available for the 1990 Corvette across all trim levels. This engine was capable of up to 380 horsepower at 6,200 rpm, torque of 370 foot-pounds at 4,500 rpm and had a bore of 4 inches, stroke of 3.48 inches and a 9.3:1 compression ratio.
