How to Surprise Your Partner On Their Birthday With Cheap, But Sweet Gifts

Surprise Your Partner On Their Birthday With Cheap, But Sweet Gifts

Birthdays are a special time to tell your partner how much he or she means to you. Saying 'happy birthday' can be as simple as surprising your loved one with sweet birthday gifts that won't cost a ton of money, but definitely get the point across. Here are some tips for doing something special for your partner on his or her birthday that say 'I love you' in a sweet simple way.

Step 1

Surprise your partner on his birthday by decorating his car. Fill your honey's car with balloons, streamers, and a card that says 'happy birthday' to the one you love, in a darling way. This creative idea works great, especially if his birthday is during the week when he has to get up early for work that morning. To get this surprise birthday gift ready, blow up balloons the night before your partner's birthday, wait until he falls asleep (or set your alarm a little earlier than him), and pop as many balloons as you can into his front and back seats. Be sure that he isn't going to be late for work trying to get all the balloons out, but do fill his car up to surprise him. If your concerned that your partner may get upset, try decorating the outside of his car with balloons and streamers and placing a card on his car seat for the morning of his birthday.

Step 2

Wake your partner up to breakfast in bed on his birthday. Cook your sweetie his favorite morning breakfast like eggs, bacon, toast, and home fries (or whatever he likes) and surprise him the morning of his birthday. You'll need to get up earlier than him in order to do this sweet birthday surprise, but it's worth the effort. You can also make him coffee, orange juice, and bring him the morning paper along with the birthday breakfast. If breakfast in bed isn't not feasible on your partner's birthday, surprise him with breakfast in the kitchen when he gets up. Most guys love a good home cooked meal and will appreciate the effort you make on their birthday. Pull the whole birthday breakfast together by tying a large birthday balloon to his cup of coffee (the handle) and slid a happy birthday card between the plate and the table. You can also hang a cute little happy birthday banner in the kitchen for him to see first thing when he wakes up.

Step 3

Plan a small surprise birthday party and invite only your partner's closest friends. A surprise birthday party can be done cheaply by asking each guest to prepare and bring a dish for your guy's birthday. Have them each pitch in a favorite food of your partner's to make the birthday party even more special. Purchase birthday decorations, balloons, streamers, and banners at a factory outlet or Dollar Store to save even more money. You can even make your own birthday decorations on the computer. If you don't have a program, create your own decorations from scratch using a Paint Pad or Word program. Buy plates, plastic utensils, napkins, and drinking cups at a Dollar Store or discount online store such as Oriental Trading (see resource list for links). Have others who are coming to the birthday party pitch in with decorations as well. If you know someone who is creative and can make the birthday decorations better than you, ask them to do so. Then, the only thing you'll really need to spend money on is drinks.

Step 4

Take your partner on a fun road trip for his birthday. Surprise your partner on his birthday by taking him somewhere special, but cheap. Go spend the day at a state park taking a bike ride, go hiking, or check out some place that your man has wanted to go like the football or baseball Hall of Fame. This may cost a little bit of money, but if you drive there rather than fly, you'll save on air line costs. Plus, if you plan a trip like this in advance, you'll have more time to save up for the birthday trip. A great birthday road trip doesn't even have to cost a lot. Talk with friends and family to come up with ideas on where to take your sweetie. His friends can tell you a lot about what he likes and give you some great suggestions. Talk to his parents as well to see what they think. Even if all you do is take a ride to the nearest hotel and pamper yourselves for a night in a great room, your partner will love his road trip birthday surprise.

Step 5

Get your partner tickets to a concert, sporting event, or any other event he's wanted to see. The two of you can enjoy a great concert for cheap on his birthday if you look around early for tickets. There are many online sites that offer tickets for cheap including Stub Hub, eBay, and sometimes Ticketmaster. You have to search around though for the best prices. Plan the birthday trip ahead of time and surprise your partner with a birthday card that holds the tickets inside. He'll be so excited to see that you took the time to plan something special for his birthday and even more pumped if it's an event he's wanted to go to. Try finding football tickets for your sweetie's favorite team near your hometown or even hockey, basketball, or baseball. Find something that you know your partner loves to watch and start looking as soon as possible for tickets to that event. Ask around if you have trouble finding events for your partner's birthday. His friends will likely know where to get sports tickets. See resource list below for places to purchase discount tickets online for your honey's birthday as well.
