1988 Ford F-150 Specs

In 1988, Ford created the F-150, which offers a larger interior than previous truck models and has the capability to haul cargo, making it a multi-use vehicle.
Body Styles
The 1988 Ford F-150 was available in several body styles, ranging from the regular cab, which seats three, to the SuperCab, which seats six. Also, the bed was offered with either a long or short wheelbase. However, the flare side body style, with larger wheel wells, was not available in this model. This was the first year Ford offered the shorter SuperCab, changing the overall wheelbase length from 155 inches to 139 inches. The regular cab's short wheelbase length is 116.8 inches overall. The SuperCab, with its long wheelbase, measures 155 inches and the regular cab, with the long wheelbase, measures 133 inches.
Transmission
The 1988 Ford F-150 was available in three types of transmissions. First, the three-speed automatic transmission was standard in the regular cab, two-wheel drive F-150 with a long bed. The next type is the four-speed automatic and manual transmission with overdrive, which was standard in most of the other body styles. However, the five-speed automatic or manual transmission with overdrive came standard in the regular cab, two-wheel drive F-150 with a short bed.
Engine
All 1988 Ford F-150s, both gas and diesel, have a fuel-injected engine. Horsepower for the F-150 engines is 150 for the 4.9-liter inline V6, 185 for the 5.0-liter V8, 210 for the V8 5.8-liter, 230 for the 7.5-liter V8 and 180 for the 7.3-liter V8 diesel.
Gas Mileage
The 1988 Ford F-150 gets between 13 and 18 miles per gallon on the highway. The most fuel-efficient F-150 built 1988 is the six-cylinder two-wheel drive. The F-150 eight-cylinder, 5.0- and 5.8-liter engines all have the lowest rating for gas mileage. It has dual fuel tanks that hold 17.5 gallons each.
