Cars Similar to the KIA Sorento

by Todd Bowerman

The KIA Sorento belongs to the "crossover" category of vehicles. Crossovers are vehicles that are built on a car platform but combine various elements of SUVs, station wagons and traditional cars. The KIA Sorento has several similarly-styled competitors, each with its own unique styling and features.

Nissan Murano

The Nissan Murano is a crossover vehicle that has a five-star safety rating. The base model Murano as of 2010 will run buyers $28,340, and features 18" Aluminum-alloy wheels, Dual Zone automatic temperature control, push-button ignition, and a continuously variable transmission for the smoothest ride possible.

Chevy Equinox

The Chevy Equinox is a crossover vehicle that boasts 32 mile-per-gallon (highway) fuel economy and a highway driving range of up to 600 miles per tank. It has the most rear-seat legroom out of all 2011 model crossover vehicles, along with a power liftgate to make loading and unloading the rear cargo area easier. The vehicle has six airbags with rollover sensors and uses the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system. The base 2011 model Equinox is priced at $22,745.

Ford Edge

The Ford Edge is a relative newcomer to the crossover market. The vehicle has a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting in the color of your choice under the dash and in other key areas, HID headlights for better night driving, and built-in HD radio. The Edge also has a rear-view camera to assist in those tricky parking jobs and a push-button ignition. The 2011 Ford Edge starts at $27,220.
