Campgrounds and recreational vehicle parks in the Fort Myers, Florida, area supply tourists and seasonal residents with the opportunity to enjoy great weather, beautiful landscapes and breathtaking sunsets. In addition, the Gulf of Mexico's beautiful waters, interesting river and superb beaches are readily available on most days of the year.

Near the Beach

The Red Coconut RV Resort, is located on Estero Boulevard, the street that runs ditectly beside the water on Fort Myers Beach. Because of its location, swimming and fishing in the gulf waters is the main attraction. It has 250 sites with a maximum length restriction of 40 feet. Separate camping and group camping areas also exist for those without RVs. Amenities include full hookups, tent rentals, a recreation center and more. Another resort called Indian Creek is just two miles from the beach, and the facility provides a daily trolley ride to the beach as one of its RV park features.

River Areas

For campers who prefer the river experience, the Calusa Cove RV and MH Resort borders the Estero State Park and is near the Estero River. It is located about halfway between Fort Myers and Bonita Springs, which gives campers a short drive to gulf beaches as well. Another campsite, The Upriver Campground RV Resort is located on the inter-coastal waterway system of the Caloosahatchee River in North Fort Myers.

Established

Woodsmoke Camping Resort, operating in the same location on the Tamiami Trail in Fort Myers, has over 300 camping sites on thirty acres. It sports a huge and heated swimming pool, two lakes that permit fishing and many other amenities, including Wi-Fi. It also has an activities calendar and planned events for visitors. Campers can reserve a place for one night or every night.

Historic and Traditional

Camping is permitted near the grounds of the Koreshan State Historic Site, which was, originally, a religious settlement established in 1894. Visitors access it from Tamiami Trail in South Fort Myers. Also accessible from the trail and in the same area are Shady Acres RV Park and Sunseekers RV Park. Both have been there for over 20 years and are favorite and traditional camping spots for snowbirds. This is a friendly local term for those who escape the northern cold and travel to Florida every year, and many return to the same camping locations.
