How to Disable Firewall Settings Controlled by a Group Policy

Via group policy, computers running Windows 8 Pro or Windows 8 Enterprise can control the behavior of applications and services and restrict what actions users can take on the PC. Local Group Policy Editor provides an interface through which administrators can configure the operating system's settings. To bypass group policy and make changes to Windows Firewall or use different settings per account, reconfigure the domain, public or private profile.
Step 1
Press "Windows-Q," enter "gpedit.msc" into the search field and then right-click "gpedit" in the results.
Step 2
Select "Run as Administrator" from the context menu. Click "Yes," if prompted.
Step 3
Browse to "Computer Configuration | Windows Settings | Security Settings | Windows Firewall with Advanced Security."
Step 4
Double-click "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security" and then select "Windows Firewall Properties" in the Overview section.
Step 5
Click the appropriate profile and then select "Not Configured" from the "Firewall State" drop-down menu. Click "OK."
