Disney Land, Rodeo Drive, Hollywood Walk of Fame are some of the popular places that come to mind when thinking of things to do in Southern California. But those places are just a few of the things to see and do in Southern California. Some of the best spots are the ones that are more low key.

For Nature Lovers

Living or visiting Southern California requires a lot of time in the car because of the traffic. For a break from the concrete and gridlock, take a break with Mother Nature.

The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens have acres of beautiful plants and flowers from jungle to desert terrains. The Huntington is near Pasadena and it's serene atmosphere makes you forget you're in the Los Angeles area. It also offers an amazing art collection.

If you're a mood for a hike, lace up your boots and head to Topanga State Park in Pacific Palisades. It's between Malibu and Santa Monica. The trails are a great workout and depending on how high you hike, you can see ocean views.

Shopping

Los Angeles is known for it's fashion but for lesser-known bargains, drive about one to two hours east to the area called the Inland Empire. You'll find great deals at malls and outlets. Another plus is that the traffic is much lighter compared to Los Angeles.

Wine and Dine

Between San Diego and the Inland Empire is Temecula Valley, known for it's wineries and vineyards. There are a number of places for the wine connoisseur to explore and enjoy a nice meal. Temecula offers the beauty and sunny Southern California weather in an environment that's reminiscent of Napa.
