Birmingham, Alabama's largest city, has several gay bars with a variety of themes and entertainment styles. Though the city has a conservative tradition that once discouraged bars of this type, the climate has relaxed in recent years. While Birmingham does not have as thriving a nightlife scene as other large cities, gay-bar patrons can dance, drink, and be entertained in clubs that resemble those of other cities.
