Christmas gift-giving can be tricky when you're in a new relationship. You want to show your new boyfriend that you care, but you don't want to give him something extravagant if you don't know each other that well yet. Think about your boyfriend's interests, and use them as your guide as you select a Christmas gift for him.
Think about the electronics that your boyfriend uses daily. Does he love his cell phone, or does he always have earphones on attached to his MP3 player? Or, is he a gamer who loves to play video games? Get him an accessory or gift card to support his favorite electronic habit. Give him a new case for his smart phone, a gift card for MP3 downloads or a video game he's had his eye on. These gifts show that you know what he likes, but they are not so personal as to overwhelm him.
Even in a new relationship, couples will have pictures of themselves, especially in today's world of digital cameras and camera phones. Look through your favorite pictures from your budding relationship, and choose your favorites. You can frame a picture of the two of you and give it to your boyfriend for Christmas. Or, if you have trouble choosing your favorite picture, create a photo book that features photos from throughout your relationship. If this new relationship turns into a long-lasting one, your boyfriend will enjoy looking at this photo book as a memory of your first Christmas together and the early times of your relationship.
Get to know your new boyfriend a little better by giving him an experience Christmas gift that the two of you can share. Consider his interests when selecting this gift. If he loves music, look for an upcoming local musical festival or a concert by his favorite artists, and get him tickets. If he's a sports buff, find tickets to an upcoming game, and get two tickets so that you can help cheer on his team. This gift shows him that you understand what he likes, and it gives you the opportunity to share this interest with him.
Create a gift basket customized for your new boyfriend. You can include small trinkets and inexpensive items in the basket, so you don't go overboard, but you do show him that you care. For example, if he's a movie buff, fill a popcorn bowl with a couple of his favorite films on DVD, along with some microwavable popcorn and candies. You and your boyfriend can have a romantic night in during the holidays, enjoying your gift and getting to know each other better.
