Where Can I Purchase Sea Buckthorn Plants?

Save

Sea buckthorn (Hipprophae rhamnoides) plants are among the most widely grown plants in the world. A small tree or shrub that grows 6 to 10 feet tall, it originated in the Russian Far East and has narrow silver leaves. This easy-to-grow plant produces round yellowish orange fruits, even if temperatures dip below 50 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year. Sea buckthorn plants are used for the fruits (to make jellies, sauces and juice) and for medicinal purposes. The plants only bear fruit if a male and a female variety of the plant are placed within 20 feet of one another. Be careful where these plants are located in the yard, as they can be quite invasive.
