Not everyone agrees with alternative approaches to medicine and many feel quite strongly about it. Heart problems are very serious, as it is the most important organ in the human body. For those with heart problems there is a plethora of information about alternative medicine and heart problems available online, including prevention guidelines.
Holistic Online gives a list of Ayurvedic herbs that are believed to strengthen and heal the heart. Ayurvedic herbs have been used in India for over 5,000 years. This site also lists other herbal medicines believed to reduce blood pressure, lower cholesterol and protect the heart, such as ginger and garlic.
The Peace Health website references vitamins, herbs and dietary and lifestyle changes that may help prevent cardiac arrhythmia. Cardiac arrhythmia is a disturbance of the heartbeat rhythm.
National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine
The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, a government site, offers facts about chelation therapy, which is used to treat coronary artery disease. The National Institute of Health sponsored a trial to study and determine the effectiveness of chelation therapy for people with coronary artery disease.

U.S. News Health gives heart patients a warning on herbal medicines used in alternative medicine practices that may cause negative interactions with traditional doctor-prescribed medications. This site warns that the supplements used in alternative medicine do not have to pass the safety and effectiveness checks that prescription medicines do.
