Samsung dryers are favorites for their affordability, style and simple user interface. The Samsung error code system is one of the features that makes some models of Samsung dryers so user friendly. When something goes wrong with your dryer, a two-letter error code may appear on the display screen. Each code corresponds to a specific malfunction and keeps appearing until you correct the problem. You can correct many of the most common issues yourself, but you may need to call a service center if the problem persists. Know that opening the back of your dryer or performing electrical repairs could void your warranty.

bE or bE2

Video of the Day

The bE code indicates a button is continually pressed. If you have accidentally pressed a button too hard, the edge can temporarily stick under the facing, keeping the button continuously pressed. If a button appears depressed or crooked, try pressing it gently until it pops up. If all buttons look OK, try restarting the cycle. If the code persists, contact a repair center.

dF, dO or dE

The "d" codes refer to door problems. The dO or dE code means the door is open; shut the door securely and press "Start." The dF code means the door is not latching properly; open the door and ensure no clothing is blocking the latch and reclose it. If either code remains, the door sensor or latch may need replacing.

Et

The Et error code indicates a malfunction within the dryer's electronic communications. Try to restart the cycle; if the code remains, it means either the keys are not communicating with the memory, or the memory has broken down internally. Attempting to make these repairs yourself is dangerous and will void your warranty. Contact a repair center.

FE

The FE code indicates a problem with the power source. Loose or incorrect wiring probably exists where the dryer connects to the power cord, or the power cord is the wrong type. If the dryer is hard-wired, it is possibly improperly wired. These kinds of repairs are dangerous for a novice, so contact an electrician or repair center.

hE/oD

The hE code refers to an invalid heating temperature, and the oD code indicates an invalid drying time. Both codes are caused by a faulty internal heat sensor or thermometer. These repairs require the opening of the dryer's back panel, which can invalidate your warranty. Contact a service center.

tO, tS, tE or tE3

The "t" codes mean there is a lint clog, either in the lint screen itself or in the venting system. Clean the lint screen by removing it from just inside the dryer door and carefully removing the lint. Replace the screen, and restart the dryer. If the code persists, unplug the dryer, and carefully detach the vent hose from the exhaust. Use a vacuum or blower to remove lint buildup, replace the hose and restart the dryer. If the code persists, the dryer is incorrectly vented. Consult your owner's manual for the recommended length and number of turns for your model. A vent hose that is too long, has too many elbows or is larger than 4 inches in diameter can inhibit proper exhaust flow. Shorten your vent hose, and use the most direct route from the dryer to the outdoors. If this does not fix the problem, contact a repair center.
