Spring Party Decoration Ideas
A spring party is an opportunity to use decorations that focus on the bright colors and new life of the season. Whether you are throwing a tea party for friends or a large wedding reception, look for decorations that reflect the hopeful, happy feeling of springtime to create a colorful, lighthearted feeling. Flower Garlands
-
For a whimsical, pretty decoration, use garlands of silk flowers. You can make your own garlands using a thick needle and sturdy fishing line. Simply run the threaded needle through the base of each fabric flower and tie the ends. For an outdoor party, hang the flower garlands from trees. Indoors, you can hang the garlands in windows to catch the light or across doorways. For a child's party or to add drama to a buffet table, drape the garlands in a scallop pattern around the edges of skirted tables.
Cupcake Bouquets
-
Brightly colored, edible cupcake bouquet centerpieces add a touch of fun to a spring table setting. Start with a Styrofoam ball and craft sticks. Set the ball in a flower pot so that half of it shows above the edge, and push craft sticks in so that 2 inches stick out. Decorate cupcakes to look like spring flowers and place one on each craft stick. Fill in the open spaces with frosted brownies or other small baked goods and finish the bouquet by tying a ribbon around the flower pot.

Colors
-
As you decorate for a spring party, look for elements in seasonal colors. Use the bright greens of budding leaves, pale pastels of apple blossoms and the bright pinks, oranges and yellows of new flowers. For a sophisticated look, start with a white base and use one or two accent colors. At a child's party, use a bolder mix of colors to create a stimulating decor scheme: bright green linens and napkins paired with pink centerpieces make a bold, energetic statement.
Fairy Lights
-
If you are throwing an outdoor party in the spring, use tiny white Christmas lights to add light and create atmosphere. String them in the trees or across bushes for a simple touch. For a child's party, look for lights in the shape of flowers or butterflies, or find large paper lanterns in soft spring colors to hang from the trees.
Easter Eggs
-
For a party around Easter, use eggs in centerpieces. Hollow out eggs and color them in pastels. Find a raised, clear bowl with a platform base and fill it halfway with water. Place the eggs in the bowl so that they form a mound that rises over the rim. Fill the holes with delicate sprigs of spring greenery or tiny flowers for a beautiful, colorful centerpiece.
