Pros & Cons on Refacing Cabinets
Cabinet refacing is one method homeowners use to change the décor in the kitchen without the expense of installing new ones. While a refacing project may seem like the perfect solution for an affordable design change, homeowners should consider the disadvantages before starting. Take the time to weigh all of the options when designing your new kitchen décor. Does this Spark an idea?

Affordability
-
Refacing cabinets is an affordable solution for redesigning a room without the expense of replacing the cabinets. Brand new cabinets can cost tens of thousands of dollars. When the decorating budget for a kitchen remodel is low, consider refacing to save thousands on the cost of cabinetry. Affordability is one of the biggest reasons many homeowners choose refacing over replacement cabinets.
Brand New Look
-
The refacing project changes the look of the room with new stain, pulls and knobs. The cabinet refacing will give your cabinets an updated look after replacing appliances and the décor in the room. This is the best solution for cabinets that are still useful, but have an outdated appearance. Refacing changes the entire cabinet fronts and fixtures, which is a bigger improvement than re-staining the cabinets.
-
No Design Change
-
A refacing project does not change the design of the cabinets in a kitchen. If the existing cabinets are poorly designed or do not work well with a redesign of the kitchen, replacing the cabinets is a better option. New cabinet designs allow you to choose different elements, such as wine racks or a lazy Susan, to provide you with a more efficient kitchen design. Refacing the cabinets will not allow you to make these changes in the basic design. If you need more cabinet space or a more efficient design, refacing is not the way to go.
Repairs
-
Refacing does not repair damage to the structure of your existing cabinets. If the interior of the cabinets has sustained water damage or any other type of problem, the refacing project will only change the outside appearance.
