Retail
-
Department stores, pet stores, coffee shops and other retail stores often hire teenagers on a part-time basis and will usually work around their school schedule and other obligations.
Working behind the scenes in your favorite stores is a great way to learn the ins and outs of the business and employee discounts can make affording the items you want that much easier.
Pet and Child Care
-
Babysitting, a long-time staple of the teenage job search, is still a good way to make a part-time income and earn valuable childcare experience, as well.
If you are CPR-certified and/or have previous childcare experience, this will make you a more appealing candidate. If not, taking a CPR class at your local YMCA or community center can help to increase your chances of landing jobs.
Pet grooming and dog walking is also another idea since, chances are, many people in your neighborhood have dogs and other pets and would be interested in hiring someone to walk, care for and groom them during the day.

Food Service and Hospitality
-
Working in a restaurant or cafe can be a great way to meet new people and the extra money from tips can provide an instant source of cash. Working in the hospitality industry as a desk clerk can also give you financial and business experience, which can make your resume seem more impressive to employers when it is time to apply for the next job. Working in a hotel or resort as a lifeguard, athletic instructor or in other capacities can also be a way to explore career opportunities.
