Spa Inspired Bathroom Ideas
While you may not be able to afford to take the time away from job and family to spend weeks basking in luxury at a spa, you can bring the spa feeling home with thoughtful decorative and functional touches in the bathroom. Glean inspiration from your favorite spa---if you have one---or the type of spa you would prefer, such as a rustic getaway in the California Redwoods or a sleek modernistic facility in New York City. Does this Spark an idea?

Towel Container
-
Flower pots can be used as towel holders. Add a container piled high with neatly folded clean towels. Arrange sumptuous Egyptian cotton towels in a uniform color, like white, black or hunter green, in a quirky container that reflects your ideal spa style. This could be a hand-woven basket from New Mexico, a vintage wooden orange crate with a lithographed label or a gleaming stainless-steel trough. Add a duplicate container to hold dirty towels and clothes.
Stone Tile
-
Stone tile comes in many colors. Tile the shower and bathtub area with taupe tumbled-stone tile. Taupe stone tile forms a rustic yet luxurious complement to white decor. The article "Beach House Decorating" on the Country Living website states, "Starfish and seashells along the edge of the tub simply enhance the earthy theme." Use that idea if you want to evoke a seaside spa.

White Color Scheme
-
Scented candles, oils or salts add olfactory atmosphere. Choose white for the color of all the main surfaces and appliances in the bathroom, like the walls and the sink, and sprinkle accents of another color throughout the room, borrowing a look from "Try Simple Decor for Your Bathroom" on the Apartment Therapy website. White not only creates a serene, relaxing atmosphere, it also makes any room feel brighter and larger. Spa-like accent colors include marigold yellow and sea-glass blue. If the room feels "too white," paint one wall in the color you chose for accents.
