Whether your youth group is comprised of young athletes, artists or those of a particular faith, there are several fun and economical choices for weekend activities. Plan activities according to the age group of your youth and the goal of your organization. If you take the time to think about what you want your kids to get out of the weekend you spend with them, you'll find that the possibilities are only limited by your imagination.

Volunteering

Volunteerism is a fun and worthy event for any organization. Youth can learn the value of sharing their time and energy and learn about various causes. There are several types of organizations that offer youth-friendly volunteer opportunities. Your youth can help clean up a local beach or park, paint over graffiti or feed the homeless. Team-Building

Teamwork is an important value for any group to learn. Spend an afternoon or an entire weekend participating in games and exercises designed to bring your youth together. Cater your specific activities to what will help your kids. A pot-luck is a cost effective solution to catering a large, festive event for any group. Get extra value for your youth group by adding a theme to the mix. Choose a specific theme, such as tropical foods for a luau or Hawaiian event, or an international event where youth can choose to bring a dish to represent the country of their choosing.

Talent Show

Hold a talent or variety show to let members of your organization show their hidden talents. Allow youth to get creative and show the skill of their choice from singing or dancing to telling their favorite joke. Make the event more extravagant by allowing them time to prepare a well-rehearsed act and involve or invite family members.
