Christening Thank You Note Ideas

A proper and polite response to receiving a gift for your child's baptism or christening is to send a thank you note. This applies whether the recipient gave an actual gift, a monetary gift, or simply helped out during the event or party afterward. A special thank you to the child's Godparents for participating is also advisable.

  • Incorporate a photo into the thank you note for a personal touch. The image could be integrated into the actual note or simply printed and inserted into the envelope. A photo from the Christening will be ideal if you are mass producing one image as it will apply to all receiving the thank you note. If possible, a photo selected individually for each recipient, perhaps of them holding the child, would be very personal. It would also transform into a treasured keepsake as well as show them your sincere appreciation.

Personal Note

  • Even if you purchase thank you notes with writing inside them, still include a handwritten, personal note in each. This will show appreciation and special attention to the recipients. Try and mention specifics when you are thanking them. For example, write, "Thank you for the beautiful cross charm. It will be worn and treasured for many years." If the gift was monetary, write "Thank you for your generous gift. We plan to put it toward Jane's college fund." If the thank you was in response to actions, such as being Godparents or extra help offered during the party, babysitting your other children or even helping to soothe the child being baptized, be sure to mention these acts by name as well.

  • Thank you notes are given to those who gave gifts or helped out, but there are also many other individuals who would appreciate the sentiments as well. A thank you note to the priest or minister who performed the Christening would be a thoughtful and considerate choice. A simple reminder that the priest's actions and words were valued and appreciated could transform the thank you note into a bright spot in his day. A thank you note to event organizers, speakers at the service or even alter boys and alter girls who participated would be appreciated and appropriate as well.
