Natural afro hair tends to be very curly and/or frizzy and is typically associated with people of African American descent. Natural afros can often be drier and less shiny than straight hair because its structure makes it harder for the oil secreted by the scalp to get to the ends of the hair strands. Hair that is very curly needs moisture in order to look its best and thrive. There are many different products available to help care for natural afro hair.
Miss Jessie’s Hair Products
Miss Jessie’s Hair Salon was founded in 1997 by two sisters who created it to respond to the demand for hair care expertise in natural hair and naturally curly hair. They often had a hard time finding products that would work on their clients' hair, so they created the Miss Jessie’s Hair Products in 2004 after successfully using their self-created products in the salon. They created products that would properly moisturize their client’s hair while defining their different curl patterns. Formulated especially for natural afro hair and naturally curly hair, Miss Jessie’s Hair Products can be found online, in independent beauty salons and stores such as Target.
Dr. Miracle’s Hair Products
Dr. Miracle’s has a line of hair products for natural and permed African-American hair. The line was created as a solution to the many problems black women encounter when looking for products to help manage their hair. With their signature “Feel It” formula, Dr. Miracle’s has a strong focus on nourishing the hair from the scalp. Dr. Miracle’s website states that the “Feel It” formula works by “stimulating the circulation of blood to the root of the hair, supplying rich moisturizers and conditioners to the scalp where hair's health, beauty and strength begin.” Dr. Miracle’s products can be found online, in independent beauty stores, and at retailers including Walmart, Walgreen’s and Target.
