There are several ski resorts nestled amid the Colorado Rockies in the vicinity of Colorado Springs. These lodges offer skiing, snowboarding, fine dining and lodging. The landscape pleases the eye of any visitor with its snow capped mountains and clean white fresh snow. Many Olympic medalists practice at these resorts near the Springs.
Arapahoe Basin Ski & Snowboard
Arapahoe Basin is 115 miles north west of Colorado Springs and towers at 13,050 feet. Prices ranges from $15 to $98. Season passes are also available. The season runs early October through early June. The resort boasts the highest terrain parks in North America: Treeline Terrain Park and High Divide Progressive Park. The snow resort recently installed the Black Mountain Express, a high-speed quad for skiers and riders. The Black Mountain Lodge looks out over the Continental Divide. Being environmentally conscious, the resort uses Wind Power to offset its electrical use. The resort offers many competitions throughout the season. It also rents out the use of some of the facilities for weddings.
Keystone Ski Resort
Located north-west of the Springs, Keystone Ski Resort offers every family member something. Activities range from night skiing to terrain park to cat skiing and riding. Ticket prices range from $111 to $301. The season runs early November through early April. In addition to skiing, there is snowboarding, dining and tubing.
Loveland Ski Resort
Loveland is designed for skiers. The avid skier will not find frills here. Rather skiers come to Loveland to simply ski. Located 90 miles from the Springs, Loveland is less crowded allowing skiers to get more slope time in and lee lift time. Loveland stands at 13,010 feet and runs from October through May.
Breckinridge stands 12,998 feet tall. It opens its season mid November and stays open through mid April. With over 150 trails, over 500 acres of snowboarding, and 25 acres of terrain parks, the Breckinridge offers everyone something special.
Four ski resorts call Aspen home: Buttermilk, Highlands, Snowmass and Aspen Mountain. Aside from Aspen there is Beaver Creek, Crested Butte, Cuchara Mountain Resort, Durango Mountain Resort, Eldora Mountain Resort, Monarch, Telluride Ski Resort, Vail and Copper Mountain Resort.
