Known for its fog, cable cars, hills and diverse culture, San Francisco is also home to many grand hotels, including the largest hotel on the West Coast. Because San Francisco is such a mecca for tourists and business travelers alike, it's no wonder the city offers so many rooms. You'll find that the city's largest hotels are also some of the nicest.

Hilton San Francisco Union Square

The Hilton Union Square is not only the largest hotel in San Francisco, it's also the largest on the entire West Coast. It has 1,908 rooms on 46 floors and takes up an entire city block. It also boasts 134,000 square feet of meeting facilities. Each standard room has either a king-size or two double beds. Deluxe View Rooms are on floors 22 through 30 and provide excellent views of the city skyline or the bay. Tower City View Rooms are on floors 31 through 44 and include both free wireless Internet access and continental breakfast. In the lobby you'll find a Starbucks and the restaurant Urban Tavern San Francisco, which is open for lunch and dinner. Hilton guests can also eat breakfast at the Urban Tavern seven days a week. The hotel allows pets. Parking is available for a fee, and valet parking is also available.

Hyatt Regency

The Hyatt Regency boasts 802 rooms on 20 floors with 67,000 square feet of space for events and meetings. A variety of room options, from standard to grand, offer guests sleek interior design throughout. Guests receive complimentary 24-hour access to Club One Fitness Club, located two blocks away. They can also ask for running and walking maps at the front desk. Located in the Hyatt's lobby, the Eclipse Restaurant and Lounge is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Parking is available adjacent to the hotel for a fee, and valet parking is available as well. Both wired and wireless Internet is available in all rooms for a fee.

Hyatt properties take second and third place for their sheer size. The Grand Hyatt has 685 guest rooms and 22,000 square feet of function space. Rooms offer various views of the skyline and bay. Grandviews Restaurant and Lounge is located on the 36th floor and offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Guests can take advantage of the hotel's 24-hour exercise facility. Internet access is available throughout the hotel for a fee. Parking is valet.

InterContinental San Francisco

The InterContinental has 550 hotel rooms, 32 floors and 43,000 square feet of meeting and function space. Despite its size, the hotel feels intimate, with only 22 rooms on each floor. Rooms range from standard to deluxe, and all have floor-to-ceiling windows, marble features and contemporary art. The hotel has a 10-room spa, and a heated lap pool and exercise facility are located next door and are open 24 hours a day. Internet access is available for a fee, and pets are allowed in certain rooms for a fee. A Michelin-starred restaurant, Luce, is located within the hotel and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also within the hotel, Bar 888 provides drinks and light appetizers.
