Low Cost Artificial Grass

Low Cost Artificial Grassthumbnail
There are low-cost artificial grass alternatives out there.

Artificial grass is an option for many yards, as it saves a tremendous amount of money on upkeep and watering in order to keep the grass alive. In the past, the downside of artificial grass was the fact that it was expensive and would get incredibly hot in the summer months. Thanks to new technology, however, artificial grass can now be installed inexpensively and remains cooler in direct sun.

    1. Synthetic Grass

      • Synthetic Grass is a low cost brand of artificial grass which looks and feels like real grass. Long green pieces of synthetic materials can be installed in sections with a rubber base which will absorb and shed water that accumulates on top of it. Synthetic Grass comes in different textures and thicknesses, some which are meant to be played upon for sports and others which are meant for a perfect manicured yard. These synthetic grasses are sold in square foot sections, ranging in price from $5 to $10 per square foot, depending on their length, quality and thickness.

      Waterless Grass

      • Waterless Grass is another low cost artificial grass which is sold by the company Mirage and is popular in areas where it is difficult to keep yards alive, like in high elevation areas and arid desert climates. These artificial lawns can last up to 20 years after they are installed, keeping their color and requiring little to no maintenance or upkeep. This means the Waterless Grass lawn will pay for itself in a few years based upon what you will save on watering, yard work and tools. Waterless Grass can also be installed in conjunction with real grass, for situations that require different types of turf, like a practice field and a game field for sports teams.

      Putting Greens

      • Real grass putting greens are very expensive to maintain and can also be very frustrating, as manicuring that type of grass to be so short and tough yet still survive requires constant attention from a landscaper or yard crew. That's why artificial grass putting greens are becoming more and more popular. They can be simply installed and played upon year round. These artificial putting greens vary in size and have the holes already installed in them. They usually come with a set cost of around one thousand dollars for a size ranging from 12 by 12 feet from side to side. For an avid golfer, this is well worth the cost.
