Small appliances are an essential part of creating, heating, preserving and preparing food in the modern kitchen. Advances in Coffee Makers

As technology has progressed, so has the ability to brew a good cup of coffee on demand. Without the latest technology, coffee would not likely be a favored morning java. The coffee beans require grinding and hot water to release the flavors and create a bold brew. Coffee pots that required direct heat from a stove top or pressure and warm water to create the hot brew have morphed into machines that can make a cup of coffee at the touch of a button on a tablet in another room or city.

The technological advances in the industry have made an impact on the home brewer's capabilities, according to The Coffee Universe. High-end roasting and brewing countertop machines are more affordable and can produce a professional brew that you can control from your phone or other devices. The espresso and specialty brew coffee makers also use less water and are faster than brewers in the past.

Advances in Dishwashers

Since its invention in the late 1800s, the dishwasher has basically worked the same. Hot, soapy water is sprayed onto dishes in racks. However, the appliance has moved far beyond the hand-cranked versions of more than 100 years ago.

According to Best Pick Reports, dishwashers have advanced with high-efficiency nozzles, soil sensors, water filtration systems and rack designs. The technology advances have reduced the amount of water needed to clean dishes. The nozzles and sensors assist with removing grime quickly and pressure control, which makes the machine more water-efficient.

Loading the dishwasher incorrectly works against the technology that has been put into modern dishwashers, from low-quality to high-end models. The baskets and silverware trays are designed to clean dishes well when they are correctly loaded and flatware and dishes aren't crammed into tight spaces or left to toss around in the harsh environment of the appliance.

Small Appliances Step Up

While refrigerators and ovens get the bulk of attention in the kitchen, the small appliances get the brunt of use in a busy kitchen. Blenders, toaster ovens, air fryers and pressure cookers have been crafted to work faster and designed to be more user-friendly for the average cook.

Modern technology in kitchen equipment has been about speed so that meals can be whipped up and on the table in less time, according to The Geek Street. The speed in technology allows for healthier meals. Blenders with more advanced blades and cutting technology can prepare thick smoothies in minutes with less peeling of thick skins and other prep work.
