  • Dremel tool

  • Aluminum-oxide grinding stone

You need to protect your eyes with goggles for this project.

Dremel has produced one of the most universal household tools you can own. This tool can cut, polish, buff, grind, sharpen, sand, engrave and carve all sorts of materials around the home, office or work space. If you need some wedges sharpened, for example, you simply need to grab your Dremel, attach the sharpening attachments and sharpen away. You should be able to get your desired edge well within an hour.

Step 3

Unscrew the housing cap from the Dremel tool to remove it, and replace the collet nut into the end of the tool. The housing cap is the saucer-shaped piece positioned between the Dremel body and the attachment tip end. The collet nut is the piece toward the end of the Dremel tip, and it holds the attachments in place when tightened.

Step 4

Put an aluminum-oxide grinding stone all the way onto the collet nut, and tighten the nut until snug.

Step 5

Screw the sharpening attachment into the Dremel housing until snug. This will screw into the threads that normally hold the housing cap in place.

Step 6

Plug the Dremel into the electrical outlet, and turn it on.

Step 7

Position your Dremel sharpening attachment over the wedge edge that you want to sharpen. Follow the angle of your wedge edge with the angle guide. Use an even speed and pressure while you sharpen the wedge. Make as many passes over the edge as needed to sharpen it to your liking.

Step 8

Turn the Dremel tool off, and unplug the tool when you are done.

Tip

Read the Dremel owner's manual thoroughly before using this tool.
