Ideas for Gifts to Give to Customers of an Automotive Repair Shop
Giving gifts to customers makes them feel appreciated and keeps them coming back, especially if the item is something that reminds them of your business and the services you offer. When finding appropriate gifts, there are different levels of expense to consider, as well as whether the effort will generate business. Gifts that help customers understand their vehicle, and why maintenance or repairs may be needed, show that you're a pro who knows what they're talking about.

Key Chain
-
When customers give you their keys so that you can repair their vehicles, give the keys back with an added key chain that reminds them how many miles they can go before they'll need an oil change, checkup or tune-up. Customized key chains should also include your shop's name and number, but don't make it the most prominent feature. Keep it at the bottom, sized no bigger than the information itself.
Customer Education Fliers
-
Once a month send or pass out a flier that shows your customers how to check out a specific system of their car. If you send out a newsletter, you could easily add the flier to it. Not only will customers appreciate knowing how to check their oil, inspect their battery for corrosion or check their car's radiator coolant level, but you'll also demonstrate your own expertise. When they find a problem, they'll be more likely to call on you.

Calendar
-
Calendars with pictures of classic cars are popular, and you can take advantage of that. Hand out calendars around the end of the year, when people start to realize that they'll need a new one. Also, having them printed yourself allows you to list checkup times. If your customers need to winterize their cars, have a reminder of that put on the calendar, along with spring tune-ups, rainy-weather brake checks and any other routine maintenance needed. Your shop's name and phone number should be listed at the top of each month, but not on top of the pictures.
