Indianapolis, Indiana is the thirteenth largest city in the country and the "Racing Capital of the World."   1. St. Elmo Steak House

    • The St. Elmo Steak House is a downtown landmark, it is the oldest steakhouse in the city and has remained in the same location since it opened in 1902. The restaurant underwent extensive renovations in 1996, in an effort to compete with modern, trendy Indianapolis without sacrificing its charm. The facilities include an open kitchen, spacious bar, several private dining rooms and a wine cellar. The menu includes several varieties of steak, chicken, pork chops, rack of lamb, surf and turf, fresh fish and a variety of salads.

    Garfield Park Conservatory

    • Garfield Park is a 136 acre park on the south side of the city. The park features two playgrounds, one small and one large. Two of the park's star attractions are the Garfield Park Conservatory and Sunken Garden, both of which are open daily throughout the year. The conservatory is filled with tropical plants and offers gardening demonstrations, educational programs, workshops and lectures along with seasonal exhibits. The park's Sunken Garden opened in 1916 and features three acres of European-style gardens with walkways, benches and fountains scattered throughout the landscape.

    The Rathskeller

    • The Rathskeller located in the Athenaeum Building, a 19th century building in downtown Indianapolis. The atmosphere is similar to a Bavarian Inn and is consistently hailed as the best German restaurant in the city. Menu options include appetizers such as a hot wurst platter, baked brie and chicken cordon bleu fingers; entrees such as schnitzel, sauerbraten, rouladen and a variety of chicken, steak, seafood, vegetarian and pasta dishes. The Rathskeller is open daily.

    Eagle Creek Park

    • Eagle Creek Park is one of the largest municipal parks in the country and is one of three "Bark Parks" in the city, allowing pets off leash in the Gilmore Canine Companion Zone. The park features a playground in addition to activities such as bird watching, hiking, boating, cross-country skiing and fishing. Park amenities include a waterfowl sanctuary, boat/canoe rentals, bait shop, concession stands, boat ramp, fishing, nature center, picnic areas and a shooting range. The park is open daily.

    The Old Spaghetti Factory

    • The Old Spaghetti Factory is a family-owned restaurant which has been open since 1969. The restaurant is renowned for its complete meals, freshly prepared meals and family-friendly environment. Complete meals include entrée, soup or salad, choice of coffee, tea or milk and the restaurant's own spumoni ice cream. Menu options include various pasta choices, chicken marsala, jumbo crab ravioli and Italian-style meatloaf. The Old Spaghetti Factory is open daily.
