Danaher Plains Trail
-
The Danaher Plains Trail is located in Schoolcraft County, which is in the eastern part of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. You can stage out of East Branch of Fox River Campground or there is a parking lot further south off Highway 77. The loop itself is 26.8 miles long and crosses over three roads. There are also multiple access points. Right off the trail is Clear Creek Trout Pond, if you care to bring a fishing pole along. ORV's less than 50 feet long may ride including motorcycles. The trail is hilly, but it is wide enough for two-way traffic, so you can backtrack at any point if you do not wish to complete the loop.
Pine Ridge Trail
-
Pine Ridge Trail is in Luce County, which is along Lake Superior, also on Michigan's Upper Peninsula. This ridge offers many off-shoots and options when it comes to the length of the ride. You can choose longer rides (46.2 miles) or shorter rides, like Two-Heart Trail, which is only 33.8 miles. From steep terrain to fairly gentle hills, the trail offers choices of trail difficulty based on the section chosen to ride. There are multiple campgrounds available along the trails as well as many lakes such as Brush Lake, Perch Lake and Lake Superior. Muskallonge Lake State Park is just to the north of the trail and offers opportunities for hiking or hanging out on the beach in-between rides. The trail is located off County Roads 443, 378, 407, 410 and 439.

Black Lake Trail
-
In the northern part of Michigan's Lower Peninsula, the Black Lake Trail in Cheboygan County offers 38.1 miles of riding along four lakes. This trail is short enough and accessible enough to work as a day trip although one camping facility is located near the southern part of the trail at Twin Lakes. This trail also meets up with Bummers Roost Trail, which has two more camping options at Black Lake State Forest. These trails are just off Bluffs Highway and run into Presque Isle County. These trails offer beginners a place to learn: They are relatively flat and wide, giving a new rider a large margin for error.
Tomahawk Motorcycle Trail B Loop
-
With small and large trails, the Tomahawk Motorcycle Trail B Loop offers over 60 miles of trails spanning Emmet and Charlevoix counties in the Lower Peninsula. With the exception of Minnehaha Creek, this is a fairly water free area. A place for beginners, riders can work on their skills for hours hardly covering the same ground. There are no nearby campgrounds, so this is meant for the enthusiast who intends to go out for a day ride.
