Texas has the largest population of whitetail deer in the country, allowing hunters the opportunity to take that trophy or just fill their freezers with venison. Many well-managed ranches offer attractive hunting packages that fit almost any budget. There are several that allow bow hunting only. Archery-only ranches are located in most counties in Texas.

Brushy Hill Ranch

Brushy Hill Ranch is a 13,000 acre working ranch located near Sabinal. It is ideal for archery hunters in search of whitetail deer. They are allowed the freedom to self-guide and may set up anywhere they choose. The bucks on the ranch are anywhere from 150+ on the P&Y scale. Does may be hunted until November 30 with $100 added doe fee. The terrain is typical south Texas and is heavily wooded with pecan and oak trees.The Sabinal River runs through the ranch. The management warns hunters to be on the lookout for rattlesnakes in this area. Whitetail deer hunts are $140 to $150 per day with a 2 day minimum as of 2010. Air conditioned cabins with bunk beds and full kitchen and bath facilities are available.

Circle T. Bow Hunting Ranch

Circle T. Bow Hunting Ranch is located in Hunt County near Commerce in Northeast Texas and is only about 90 minutes from Dallas. The ranch has 600 acres of thick brush and dense forest surrounded by a high fence. Deer stands and feeders are provided. There is a walk-in cooler for the convenience of the hunter. Lodging is available, but no meals are provided. Rates for whitetail hunts vary, so the hunter must call in advance. Most hunts require booking for a minimum of 2 days.

Busy B. Ranch

Busy B. Ranch is located near Jefferson in east Texas. The ranch offers bow hunters an opportunity to hunt whitetail with an experienced guide. The rugged terrain presents a challenge with its many pine trees and hardwood creek bottoms. The guide service also includes the option of having your animal dressed or you may use the facilities provided including a walk-in cooler for storage. You may choose from a stand or spotting hunt. The 1000 acre ranch provides bunkhouse lodging that sleeps 10 at a cost of $25 without meals or $60 per day with meals provided as of 2010. There is a 2-day minimum when booking a hunt.

Bug Scuffle Ranch

Bug Scuffle Ranch is a 2000 acre ranch located in Vanderpool. Beautiful Utopia is only 11 miles away. Natural springs and canyons can be found on this Hill Country ranch. Archery hunters can enjoy lodging facilities in bunkhouse cabins with full kitchens that can sleep up to eight people. The facilities also include a full-sized washer and dryer. The hunting package for whitetail deer is $275 per day as of 2010. A minimum stay of two days is required with a minimum party of three.
