Harvard University is often considered the most prestigious college in the United States. As a member of the Ivy League, with rival institutions like Brown and Yale, simply getting accepted to Harvard is an accomplishment in itself. Students at Harvard can choose to study in one of several schools within the university, studying subjects such as business, design, divinity, engineering, education, government and law. Programs are available for enrolled students that range from the associate's degree through the Harvard Extension School, to the bachelor's and on into advanced degrees such as the master's or doctorate. The Harvard Law School is a highly respected institution offering a variety of law degrees, including the Juris Doctor.

Boston College in Chestnut Hill is an institution of higher learning that has been educating the minds of New Englanders since 1863. This liberal arts college started as a place to learn about the Greek and Latin classics and to become educated on philosophy and religion. Students here can still do that today, but there is much more to BC than there was more than a century ago. Today, the university is made up of the College of Arts and Sciences, the Lynch School of Education, Boston College Law School, the Carroll School of Management, the Connell School of Nursing, the School of Theology and Ministry, the Woods College of Advancing Studies and additional graduate schools. An Associate's degree is available through the Carroll School, many bachelors' programs are available in more than 30 majors and a Juris Doctor is available through the BC Law School.

Suffolk University in Boston isn't as well known as some of the area's other universities, but its reaches exceed those of its neighbors. Aside from its Main Boston location, Suffolk University has campuses on three continents, including campuses in Massachusetts, Madrid and Dakar. Founded in 1906, Suffolk began as a night school for aspiring lawyers. The night school grew by leaps and bounds and eventually transitioned into the university it is today. Here students are able to pursue a variety of interests including a Juris Doctor from that law school that started so long ago. Bachelor's degrees are available from the College of Arts and Sciences, the New England School of Art and Design, the Honors Program and the Sawyer Business School. The academic programs also offer professional certifications, associate's degrees and many other degree programs up to and including the PhD.
